Registration for this event has passed

Come to Capitol Hill in March

Our annual day-long Capitol Hill advocacy day is set for Thursday, March 5, 2020. We’re planning for at least 150 advocates to be with us for a full day of direct advocacy. You can start planning to be with us by registering right here, right now!  The deadline to register is Thursday, February 13th.

Advocacy Day:

Become a PC Advocate by participating in this organized way of getting our message out to Congress.   Each person is assigned to a team of from 3-5 people to visit several Congressional Offices during the day.   The National Peace Corps Association sets up meetings between your assigned group and various Members, so you have a meeting time schedule. Often the group will meet with the international affairs staff person and sometimes the Member  The Association prepares talking points and data to use.  A special aspect of the prepared materials is the data provided on the number of volunteers currently serving from the MEMBER'S state as well as the total number serving from that state.

As a returned volunteer you may have several stories from your service and what you have done since you returned.  Although most have full day schedules that will include Representatives and Senators, if you can only do a 1/2 day, you also will have a team assignment.  At the start of the day at 8:00 AM an orientation is provided and one meets the team members. Precise information is given as to what we hope the Member will support.  Each team has a leader.   At the end of the day a social gathering is held for refreshments and socializing with the others.  Lunch with team members is a great way to learn about some of the experiences of other volunteers.
